Custom 3D-Printed Toolbox Case for 3D Printer Tools

C

Keeping your 3D printer tools organized is important for efficient printing and maintenance. That’s why I designed a large, custom 3D-printed toolbox case to store all the essential tools for my 3D printer. This case is practical, sturdy, and easy to assemble.

The Design

This toolbox case is designed with simplicity and functionality in mind. It’s spacious enough to hold a variety of tools, such as pliers, scrapers, tweezers, and nozzles. The case requires two long screws to secure the parts together, making it strong and reliable for everyday use.

Materials and Printer Details

I used PLA for this project, which works great because it’s strong, easy to print, and readily available. The case was printed using the Qidi Plus 4, which provided good detail and a smooth finish. Due to its size, the case might require multiple print sessions, depending on your printer’s bed size.

Features

  • Large Storage Space: The case is big enough to fit most tools needed for 3D printer maintenance.
  • Easy Assembly: You only need two long screws to put the case together.
  • Customizable Design: You can modify the design to add compartments or adjust the size to fit your specific needs.

STL and OBJ Files Available

I’ve made both STL and OBJ files available for download [link to files]. You can use the STL files for direct printing or the OBJ files if you want to modify the design in your favorite 3D modeling software.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Print the parts using PLA.
  2. Gather two long screws that fit the designated holes.
  3. Align the parts and secure them with the screws.
  4. Store your tools and enjoy an organized workspace!

Challenges and Improvements

This is a simple yet effective design, but there’s always room for improvement:

  • Adding internal compartments could help organize smaller tools.
  • Ventilation holes might reduce the risk of PLA warping in warm environments.
  • Adding labels or icons on the lid could make tool identification easier.

What’s Next?

I’m excited to hear how others might use or improve this design. Whether you’re adding compartments, tweaking the size, or making it your own, the possibilities are endless. If you print this case or come up with enhancements, feel free to share your experiences. Let’s keep building and innovating together!
